Legacy

Reuben was dedicated to his art. He created art for art sake with little regard for profit. His desire was to stir emotion in order to better humanity. Early works express the need for supporting civil rights and diverting oppression. The recognition of the under-privileged was high on his list. There was a fascination for science, history, nature and mysticism. The trauma of war and injustice wrenched his soul and his art. The thirty years of teaching gave him an academic community to bathe in. Students loved his insight and passion. He bucked the trends and unearthed new marrow.
