Mural proposals

In late 1936 the two collaborators split up. Guston went east to New York. Kadish went north to San Francisco. Reuben worked in the shipyards and submitted mural proposals to the WPA. He painted scenes in the classical style of the WPA, social realism. These were rejected by the WPA commission.
